About

Rainbow Timeline WA is a history project documenting LGBTQIA+SB people, places, organisations, activism and community life across Western Australia.

Centred on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Perth), the project extends across Western Australia, bringing together archival photographs, posters, publications, objects, personal collections, oral histories and community stories.

Rainbow Timeline WA explores the people and communities that have shaped LGBTQIA+SB histories — from early activism and social groups to law reform, Pride, HIV/AIDS activism, community organisations and contemporary life.

The project is continuing to grow through research, archives and contributions from the community, creating an accessible record of histories that have often been overlooked, dispersed or undocumented.

Rainbow Timeline WA is an evolving project — with more histories, collections and stories to come.
